Three new earthquakes in Cuba at dawn this Wednesday

The National Seismological Service had perceptibility reports from Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo. The third tremor was the most intense, due to its magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter scale.

The network of stations of Cuba’s National Seismological Service (CENAIS) has registered at dawn this Wednesday three perceptible earthquakes in the eastern part of the country, according to information on its website.

The first occurred at 4:51 a.m. and was located at 19.77 degrees north latitude and -75.75 degrees west longitude, at a depth of 5.0, 26.23 km southeast of the city of Santiago de Cuba. It had a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter scale.

The second occurred a few minutes later, at 4:54 a.m., and was located at 19.75 degrees north latitude and -75.71 degrees west longitude, at a depth of 5.7 km, 31 km southeast of the city of Santiago from Cuba. Its magnitude was 3.4.

The third of these successive perceptible earthquakes occurred at 5:51 a.m. and was located at 19.73 degrees north latitude and -75.69 degrees west longitude, at a depth of 1.0 km.

This was the most intense, having a magnitude of 3.6. It happened 36 km southeast of the city of Santiago.

At the close of the information, no material or human damage was reported, and reports of perceptibility had been received from the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo.

These have been the perceptible earthquakes numbers 10, 11 and 12 of the year 2022.

Shortly before, in the early evening of this Monday, another earthquake of magnitude 3.0 had been perceptible in various points of Santiago.
