On November first the Subasta Habana fine arts auction house will hold its event “A viva voz” Auction where Cuban and foreigner collectors will be offered a lot made up by 70 pieces including works of the most important Cuban painters of the twentieth century with some of the most prominent contemporary artists.

This year they will hold its eleventh edition and for this reason the organizers will offer originals by René Portocarrero (1912 -1985), Victor Manuel (1897-1969), Lolo Soldevilla (1901 -1971) and Servando Cabrera Moreno (1923-1981). Of the latter there will be five lots for biding, including "Figuras", a work that belongs to a private collection.

This first group represents a sample of the work of top ranking artists of Cuban pictorial tradition whose works represent different discourses and expressive needs and that stand for the Cuban way of painting.

Participants may also purchase works of younger artists, though already with a strong and diverse career, during which they have ventured into different approaches to the plastic arts as in the case of Roberto Fabelo, who will attend the bid with "Brocheta" a 2012work, while Carlos Garaicoa will offer his "La Maravilla", a piece part of the series "La Conversacion". Yoan Capote is one of the artists whose work will be brought to the attention of those interested in art.

The program includes, according to the organizers in statements to the Cuban press, the presentation from 33 artists from the island. There will be 44 works that will be auctioned and they belong to three artists of the academy, 22 of modern art and 8 to contemporary art, in the desire to provide the widest possible spectrum that meets the most varied interests of collectors.

The decorative arts will also be available to participants as they offer 26 pieces of glass, bronze and pottery, as well as the furniture.

They announced that one of the highlights of the auction will undoubtedly be the set of Meissen porcelain by JJKndler from the mid-eighteenth century, and the work in bronze with Brown dark patina "Boar stalked by three dogs", with the signature of CH. Paillet.

Those interested can see the pieces that will be auctioned on Tuesday October 23 at the Havana Gallery, located in the Vedado district of Havana.

At the same time the organizers announced that those interested can register from October 26through the 31 in the Hotel Nacional de Cuba halls: Sancti Spiritus and Taganana and also in Havana Gallery. They can also register and participate in virtual private auction through the event’s website www.subastahabana.com.

Subasta Habana is held in Cuba since 2002 with great success and sales. In their latest editions they have sold up to 60 percent of the pieces. These results reflect the demand that Cuban art has always had among private collectors and institutions in various international art circuit. At the same time its virtual form is an expression of the various kinds of electronic commerce in which the island has been inserting gradually.
