The Historical Center of Havana hosts these days the 10th Cuban Chamber Music Festival, which is characterized by the participation of groups from across the country and the variety of their repertoire.

Renowned pianist Frank Fernandez, Honorary Chairman of the event, told OnCuba that the event pursues, above all, the promotion of the work of groups of this type of format across the country.

Cuba shows a notable increase in the number of such groups, ranging from duo to chamber orchestra. The festival will have representatives of Havana, Matanzas, Holguin, Camaguey and Santiago de Cuba, Fernandez said.

The famous Cuban artist, who is recognized in all the major concert halls in the world, pointed out that eclecticism and diversity are the cardinal points governing the concert program of the event, which is primarily focused on works by authors from Cuba and Latin America, but it does not exclude creations from other places.

The programme of different days is made up by plays of composers like Argentine Alberto Ginastera, Brazilian Heitor Villalobos, Cuban Moises Simons, Carlos Fariñas and Roberto Valera, among others.

Scores of the Polish Gracina Bacewics,  French Gabriel Fauré, English Benjamin Britten, and Russian Mikhail Glinka will also be interpreted, so as the classics like Frank Schubert , Ludwig van Beethoven and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
