The Qatar Development Fund donated 100,000 dollars to Cuba for the recovery of the damage caused by the tornado that hit Havana a year ago.

The donation was intended for the government of the Cuban capital, according to information sent to OnCuba by the Qatari embassy on the island. This important monetary aid joins those delivered in advance by other governments and international organizations, to alleviate the effects caused by the severe weather event of January 27, 2019.

The tornado left a balance of seven dead, almost 200 injured and about 10,000 displaced, and damaged about 8,000 homes and other buildings, mainly in the municipalities of Cerro, 10 de Octubre, Regla and Guanabacoa.

It grants aid, loans and warranties and development investments, which are materialized through bilateral and multilateral agreements, and it collaborates with international organizations such as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the African Union and the UN Economic and Social Council, among others.
