A bit of certainty

January 6, 2026

Mariela Castro, daughter of Cuba’s President Raul Castro and niece of Fidel Castro today assured the multistate network Telesur she was “alive and kicking, happy and healthy” and thus denied the widespread in international media and social networking rumor about her alleged presence in Algeria Air plane that went missing en route between Burkina Faso and Algiers.

The president of the National Center for Sexual Education (CENESEX) in Havana confirmed that she presented Thursday morning the results of her doctoral research on social integration of transsexuals as input to public policy during t an event at the Hotel Nacional in Cuba.

The Cuban official said she was happy to greet viewers and said she does not understand, however absurd, this false information, which, in her opinion, only confirms the discrediting of certain means that are dedicated to misinform and to show.

“Who knows what they seek (…). We’ll see what they intend, maybe need publicity for the discredit they have had for so long, “Mariela Castro, who congratulated Telesur for fulfilling ” a fundamental role, revolutionary, of transparency and journalistic ethics … “.

According to BBC News, the rumor about the presence of Mariela Castro among the passengers in the flight AH5017 started in the website of the Ouagadougou International Airport in Burkina Faso.
