Cuba registered the lowest number of COVID-19 patients in the last 21 days this Saturday, with 618 new cases, although the number of deaths remains high (4), reported the national director of Epidemiology of the island’s Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Durán.
Dr. Durán explained in the daily report on the situation of the coronavirus epidemic on the island that yesterday 19,234 patients were hospitalized, of which 11,992 were under epidemiological surveillance, 3,083 suspect and 4,159 active cases of the contagious disease.

53.6% of the confirmed cases in the last 24 hours were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis, while 560 of the patients were contacts of confirmed cases and in 32 patients the source of infection could not be established.
With the figures registered yesterday, the accumulated number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic in Cuba reached 49,779, while the deaths from the disease amounted to 322.
68 pediatric patients were diagnosed, 5 of them under one-year-old, for 4,121 pediatric patients with the virus so far this year, according to the expert.
Havana has the most complicated epidemiological situation, with 286 positive patients with COVID-19 in the day and a great dispersion throughout all its municipalities.
The Cuban capital has the highest incidence rate of the virus in the last 15 days, with 293 infections per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Mayabeque (182.3), Santiago de Cuba (124.7), Pinar del Río (112.6), Guantánamo (105.8) and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud (100.6)
On Saturday there were 676 discharges, for a total of 45,242 recovered patients since the beginning of the epidemic on the island last March, which represents 90.8% of the total infected.
According to the Cuban Ministry of Public Health report, 55 patients confirmed with COVID-19 remained yesterday in ICUs, 29 of them in critical condition and 26 in serious condition.
