Coronavirus in Cuba: five deaths and 914 infections, Tuesday’s report

Of the total of new SARS-CoV-2 infections, 895 are due to autochthonous transmission and 869 were related to confirmed cases.

COVID-19 produced 914 infections and five deaths in Cuba this Tuesday, according to the report issued today by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).

Of the total of new SARS-CoV-2 infections, 895 are due to autochthonous transmission and 869 were related to confirmed cases.

Havana, although with lower volumes of diagnosed, continues to report the highest figures; 392 yesterday. For this reason, the province remains at the forefront in terms of incidence rate.

Along with two from Mayabeque, 10 municipalities in the capital concentrated 41.2% of the transmission in the last 15 days, with a worse situation in Old Havana and La Lisa, which are at the head of the incidence rates.

In addition, other territories with high reports of coronavirus yesterday were Pinar del Río (156 cases), Granma (83), Mayabeque (58), and Camagüey (42), although all provinces reported cases of infection due to the pandemic.

Two years of pandemic in the Cuban calendar

Four of the five deceased this day were reported from Havana: two women and three men; the fifth person, a man, was from Sancti Spíritus. All were between the ages of 72 and 82.

Now the death toll from the new coronavirus in Cuba is 333.

In 19 individuals, the contagion occurred abroad and this number corresponds to travelers from Russia, Spain, Mexico, and Venezuela. Also on the day, four foreigners with the disease were reported: three Russians and one Italian.

Admission records rose this Tuesday when 19,100 people were reported under surveillance, 65 of them in intensive care: 22 in critical condition and 43 in serious condition.

With the 700 discharges reported by the MINSAP on Tuesday, in Cuba 47,626 patients have already recovered from the new coronavirus.

For this information, Cuban laboratories processed 17,580 samples in a day in which, according to the MINSAP, 54.2% of those diagnosed were asymptomatic.
