Cuba registered 12 new positive cases with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and three deaths from COVID-19 at the close of Saturday, Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), reported at a press conference.
Almost two months after the first reports of people infected with the coronavirus on the island, 1,766 cases and 77 deaths from the disease have already been reported, according to official data.

Until yesterday there were 1,894 suspicious patients hospitalized in Cuba; 494 others are active cases of COVID-19, one of them in critical condition and five in serious condition.
A total of 4,081 people are in their homes under public healthcare epidemiological surveillance.
Durán stated that 53 people were discharged on Saturday, and now the island has a total of 1,193 people recovered after being hospitalized for testing positive to the coronavirus.
According to the expert in epidemiology, in three of the new patients with the virus the source of contagion is not known so far, so the number of those infected with no links to previous cases has risen to 92.
Another significant figure is that of asymptomatic patients: a total of 848 after adding the 4 of those detected yesterday who had no respiratory symptoms.
The residence by province and municipality of the 12 confirmed cases is:
- Artemisa: 1 case (from Bauta municipality)
- Havana: 8 cases (2 from Playa municipality; San Miguel del Padrón, Diez de Octubre, Cerro, Habana del Este, Cotorro and Plaza, 1 each)
- Villa Clara: 1 case (from Santa Clara municipality)
- Sancti Spíritus: 1 case (from the municipality of Sancti Spíritus)
- Ciego de Ávila: 1 case (from Ciego de Ávila municipality)
