One death and 8 infections from COVID-19 were reported today by the health authorities in Cuba, data that brings the numbers of deaths to 80 and infections on the island to 1,908 due to the pandemic.

The only victim yesterday was related to the outbreak that occurred at the Cotorro Social Protection Center that, weeks ago, shot up the rates of infection in Havana.

This is a 78-year-old wandering man, with a previous medical history and “severe malnutrition,” according to Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of epidemiology.

The infections occurred in Havana (6) and Matanzas (2), all correspond to Cubans; seven of them were related to detected patients and the source of infection is not specified in one individual.

In this group there were equal numbers of men and women; and by age groups, four are between 40 and 59 years old and two between 20 and 39 years old. The new figures include the case of a six-month-old baby girl residing in Matanzas.
