Until this Friday, to send a money order in Cuba it was necessary to go to a post office, fill out the corresponding form and deposit the money. But starting this December 15, Cubans now have a new option.
The island’s postal services are taking a leap toward the electronic world with the start of this service, reported on its website the Correos de Cuba Business Group. To do so, it will use PasaRed Cuban banking payment gateway, and other associated banks such as BANDEC and Banco Metropolitano will also intervene in the service.
Those who wish to send money through this means must comply with a series of requirements, such as having access to the national network (.cu), having a bank card in Cuban pesos (CUP) and another Telebanca card associated to it, having an email account and registering and authenticating them as a user on the digital page of Correos de Cuba.

In the case of electronic notifications, these will allow “knowing the state of the money order” and will issue a notice 7, 15 and 21 days after sent if it has not been cashed before. After 30 days, if the money order has not been collected, the amount will be returned to the sender’s card.
