This February 14 we are celebrating, together with Valentine’s Day, the first five years of the Café Laurent. With an exclusive atmosphere and a unique style, this sui generis space for gastronomic interpretation has been working intensely for half a decade vibrating with Havana at its feet.
It is located on the topmost floor of a multifamily building designed and built in the 1950s, precisely in the middle of the part of the city that went up during that decade. The place seduces because of its vintage decoration. Magazine clippings from the period cover some of the locale’s walls. It has a spectacular bar set up in the air which highlights the decoration of those years and an alluring terrace that serves as a lookout point.
The surprisingly large spacious windows facilitate the extraordinary lighting and the natural glamor that goes with the versatile and imaginative menu. It is a progressive and flexible cuisine that escapes the conventional: an author and design cuisine. The meticulous recreation of textures, presentations, flavors, smells and colors make patrons have their senses alert to enjoy the food prepared in this restaurant that, without forgetting the dishes of traditional cuisine, combines them with the chef’s unquestionable touch.
Nothing is improvised in this culinary haven that owes its name to its owner and principal architect Lorenzo Nieto. The starters are reminiscent of the favors of international cuisine, while others are refreshing and very natural in an effort to satisfy the diverse preferences. The main dishes stand out for their cooking point, which is zealously cared for to maintain the natural juices. Neither should the desserts stop being deciphered in this coquettish place, its pastries, completely made in the place, are truly fabulous.
The Café Laurent knows about passions, it’s not by chance that it was born on such a romantic day, to remind you that cooking is also the way to your heart.
