Havana’s Chinatown is more popular for its Italian food restaurants than for its Chinese cuisine – which, in many cases, is rather a tropicalized version of the original Asian recipes.

The old quarter, located near the Capitol building, is an eclectic display of shapes, both Cuban and Asian.

Oriental paper lanterns and paintings and sculptures of dragons coexist with piles of garbage on some corners, which have become typical of the area.

What was once one of the most populated areas of Cuba’s capital city, is today a very quiet place, abandoned to its fate.

But if you watch carefully, you may witness the agitated laboriousness of these Cubans of Asian descent.
