Cuba and Germany will hold a virtual business forum this month to explore the possibilities of cooperation in the biotechnology and biopharmaceutical sector, Prensa Latina reported.

Designed to present the experiences and potential of the Cuban biotechnology and biopharmaceutical sector, BioCubaFarma will have the leading role in the meeting, although it will be attended by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Cimab S.A., the Finlay Vaccine Institute and the Center for State Control of Medicines, Medical Equipment and Devices.

The meeting was announced at the Center for the Promotion of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (ProCuba), where it was notified that the Cuban Chamber of Commerce and the German Office for the Promotion of Trade and Investment in Cuba organized the event.

Próximo 14 de abril tendrá lugar el Foro Empresarial Virtual, #Cuba y #Alemania. La cita permitirá adquirir informaciones de primera mano sobre los principales productos biotecnológicos y biofarmacéuticos cubanos. #CubaExporta #Cubahttps://t.co/8GZ1Gy3Png

The webpage of the German Office for the Promotion of Trade and Investment in Cuba, created by the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy between 2017 and 2018, highlights that the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector in Cuba has a worldwide reputation for its high standards of innovation and quality, the source stated.

As a result of the creation of this structure, and given its participation in the 36th Havana International Trade Fair (FIHAV), the head of the Office, Gunther Neubert, highlighted the potential of the areas of medicine, biotechnology and tourism, and said that some German companies, such as Daimler, have been trading with Cuba for 20 years and have a broad structure on the island, according to Cubaeconómica.

BioCubaFarma subsidiaries participate in joint ventures with foreign partners in China, Singapore, Thailand, Great Britain, Spain and also in Cuba, in the Mariel Special Development Zone, the digital portal of the German Office added.

The biotechnology and biopharmaceutical cooperation forum between Cuba and Germany, according to the source, will be an opportunity to provide first-hand information on the main products contained in the Business Opportunities Portfolio, aimed at identifying new projects and joint cooperation in the future.
