The deaths caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus rose to 116 this Sunday in Cuba, after the death of a 50-year-old woman residing in the Ciro Redondo municipality of Ciego de Ávila, according to Dr. Francisco Durán during his appearance this Monday.
With this death, explained in the medical report issued by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), Cuba’s lethality rate is 2.25%.
New contagions, meanwhile, reached 50, after performing 7,598 tests throughout the country.

48 correspond to Cubans and two to foreigners temporarily residing on the island. Of the total, 40 had contact with confirmed cases and in 10 individuals the source of infection is not specified.
20 men, 22 women and, of the total number of COVID-19 cases, 35 were asymptomatic.
The regions that reported the infections were: Havana (31), Matanzas (7), Ciego de Ávila (5), Artemisa (3), Camagüey (2), Mayabeque (1) and Sancti Spíritus (1).
According to age group, 10 of the new contagions had not reached the age of 20; 18 were between 20 and 39 years; 19, between 40 and 59, and three were over 60.
The hospitalized patients totaled 7,794 at midnight yesterday; 50 were discharged and 13 were in intensive care: four in critical condition and nine in serious condition.
With yesterday’s 7,598 samples, Cuba has processed a total of 546,250 tests since March, of which 5,141 have been positive.
