The Cuban Council of Ministers established the Country Brand of the Republic of Cuba, its functions and the regulations for its use through Decree 54/2021, the Agencia Cubana de Noticias (ACN) news agency reported.
The regulation, published this Thursday in the Gaceta Oficial, describes the Country Brand as an “official sign whose ownership corresponds to the Cuban State, and is made up of a red triangle with a solitary white star in the center, followed by the word Cuba, in blue and with a capital letter.”
Likewise, the Decree establishes the organization of the Country Brand Council, which will be in charge of authorizing the use of this sign, regulating its promotion and protecting, both nationally and internationally, its administration, control and defense.
Said council, which has its own legal status and is part of the new Institute of Information and Social Communication, will also be responsible for the measures to be adopted in the event of infringements in the use of the brand.
According to the ACN, the new norm is applicable to individuals and legal entities, national or foreign, with permanent domicile or not in Cuban territory, who use the Country Brand as an indication of the identity and national origin of their goods and services, as well as the identification of the country as a suitable place for foreign investment, tourism and holding events.
