Cuba in the face new outbreak of COVID-19: 59 new cases this Saturday

Cuban Health Minister José Ángel Portal Miranda confirmed during the usual Ministry of Public Health report that the country is facing a new epidemic outbreak of the disease.

This Saturday, Cuba reports 59 new cases of coronavirus, 18 from local transmission and 41 with a source from abroad, the product of 3,657 tests carried out, the usual report by the Ministry of Public Health specifies.

Of the 18 local cases, 16 had contact with other confirmed patients and in two no source of infection was specified, while of the 59 confirmed today, 50 were asymptomatic.

At the moment, 773 people are hospitalized, with 395 suspects, 356 confirmed active cases and a total of 11,220 people under primary healthcare surveillance.

Havana remains one of the provinces with the highest incidence of cases, with a total of 14 (Habana del Este 4, Boyeros 3, 10 de Octubre 2, San Miguel del Padrón 2, La Lisa 1, Guanabacoa 1 and Playa 1 ). Artemisa reported 4 new contagions: three in Mariel municipality and one in San Cristóbal.

The 41 cases from abroad, all travelers who arrived from Venezuela, cover 12 of the country’s provinces and include a total of 180 suspected cases, all located in isolation centers.

Of the 356 active patients, seven are reported seriously ill; on the other hand, there were 13 medical discharges for a total of 2,442 patients recovered from COVID-19 and two evacuees.

Cuba confirmed to date a total of 2,888 SARS-COV-2 positive cases, a result of the 293,069 tests processed.
