Three Cuban students were reported missing in Mexico since last Tuesday, according to information released by the Veracruz State Search Commission to local media.

The Cubans were traveling from Tuxpan to the Cuban Consulate located in the city of Boca del Río, after they had allegedly been summoned, according to their fellow students at the Universidad Veracruzana (UV), who reported the disappearance, the Mexican newspaper El Mundo reported.

State authorities published files with the identity and descriptions of the disappeared. According to the source, they are 32-year-old Carmen Dianeyz Boza Banguela; Mercedes Díaz Gómez, 30 years old; and Yuri Lorenzo Torre, 41. All three are studying postgraduate studies at the UV Faculty of Biological and Agricultural Sciences of Tuxpan.

In the absence of the Cuban students, the authorities of the house of higher studies contacted the diplomatic headquarters of the island, and found that they had not arrived at the place, nor did they have a request from the Cuban government, indicated El Mundo.

The vice-rector of the Northern Zone of the UV, José Luis Alanís Méndez, took part in the matter and requested the support of the State Attorney General’s Office, the Secretariat of Foreign Relations and the State government to collaborate in the search for the Cubans, which is why there was a deployment of municipal, state and federal forces from Tuxpan to the port of Veracruz.
