With today’s 76 infections, Cuba surpasses 8,000 cases of COVID-19

17 were imported. Three people in intensive care. 42 discharges in the day.

Since March, Cuba has registered 8,026 infections of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, a figure that was reached after the diagnosis in the last 24 hours of 76 new patients, according to the report issued today by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).

Of the 76, 15 were contacts of confirmed cases; 17 have the source of infection abroad, while in five individuals the source of infection was not specified. 46 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis.

By nationality, there are 73 Cubans and three foreigners: two Russians and one Mexican.

The provinces with the highest number of patients due to autochthonous transmission are Pinar del Río (28 cases, one imported) and Santiago de Cuba (28 cases, one imported).

They are followed by Holguín and Ciego de Ávila. Holguín reported six positive cases, of which two are imported. Meanwhile, Ciego de Ávila reported three, two of which acquired the new coronavirus virus abroad.

As for Artemisa (three cases), Havana (four cases) and Granma (one case), all the cases identified by the health authorities were imported.

With the 42 discharges of the day, 7,470 patients have already recovered.

Until midnight yesterday, three patients were reported in intensive care: one in critical condition and two in serious condition.

Yesterday a total of 9,981 samples were processed, according to the MINSAP.
