“This is an essentially love album,” said Haydée Milanés when presenting her new record this Friday at a press conference at the Cuba Pavilion in Havana.
Amor Deluxe, published on the island by the Bis Music label, is the most recent album by the singer, who has maintained a rising career in contemporary Cuban music.
In the record she sings her own versions of the songs of her father, Pablo Milanés, accompanied by internationally renowned artists.
The Cubans Omara Portuondo, Francisco Céspedes, Carlos Varela, the Spanish Joaquín Sabina, the Argentine Fito Páez and the Brazilian Chico Buarque are some of the figures with whom she undertook this journey through the work of Pablo, one of the worldwide heavyweights in the history of the author song.
With this double album, presented by Cuban television journalist Raúl Nogués, Haydée allowed herself to continue the homage to her father which she had started with the record Amor, published three years ago.
In this album that just came to light on the island there are titles such as ” El breve espacio en que no estás,” “La soledad,” “Días de gloria” and “Años.”
Ela Ramos, general manager of Bis Music, highlighted Haydée’s dedication to music, her extraordinary perseverance in the care of all the details of her work and her commitment to the Cuban public.
The singer said that this presentation was very special because finally “the album is in the country I love the most, Cuba.”
Haydée had released the album about four months ago with a concert in Mexico, where it was put into circulation by the independent label Cassete.
The album has gotten very favorable reviews in the specialized press and caught the attention of notable international producers and labels.
The young and at the same time experienced performer and composer recently participated in the Alternative Latin Music Conference in New York, a forum where world-famous Latin artists meet with other younger ones. She has also been asked to perform in various countries and present her new album, which she considers marks a stage of maturity in her career.
Regarding this album, she recently told OnCuba: “It’s a very great possibility of making the songs of my father known to young generations and reaching young people, and also allowed me to continue getting to know the greatness of his work.”
The singer, who has recorded six albums, will make a tour of this album and other themes of her repertoire with a concert on August 16 in the capital’s Cuba Pavilion.
