One death and 36 new infections reported, mostly from Sancti Spíritus, is the most recent balance of COVID-19 in Cuba, according to the authorities of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) who also highlighted a decrease in active cases, which now stands at 488.
The new deceased from the SARS-CoV-2 virus is a 70-year-old woman, resident in Cárdenas, contact of confirmed cases and whose evolution is described in today’s medical report. With it, deaths from the new coronavirus rise to 123 on the island, where the fatality rate is 2.10%.

In addition to Sancti Spíritus, which reported 23 new infections from two municipalities in the last 24 hours, COVID-19 cases were also reported in Havana (seven in three municipalities), Ciego de Ávila (three in the main municipality), Villa Clara (two in the same number of municipalities) and Artemisa (one in San Cristóbal).
All the cases, all autochthonous, correspond to Cubans: 34 correspond to contacts of confirmed cases and in two individuals the source of infection is not specified.
The male gender predominates slightly (19-17) and, of the total, 19 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis.

By age group, the most affected this time was between 40 and 59 years old, with 17 contagions. The rest of the cases behaved as follows: six under 20 years of age; nine between 20 and 39, and four over 60.
Only one patient was reported in intensive care at midnight on October 4, a day in which 87 people were discharged for a total of 5,232 recovered patients on the island.
