Varadero beach resort will resume its air operations and will be able to receive international tourists as of October 15, according to a note from the Cuban Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) that is circulating on social networks.
The initial stage of this reopening will be partial. Clients will be able to stay in four- and five-star hotel facilities.
Also included are non-hotel activities associated with the Chapelin and Gaviota marinas, as well as maritime excursions, nature excursions and other commercial, recreational and gastronomic activities within an area approved by the Ministry authorities.
The approved territory ranges from Calle K to Punta Hicacos, which includes facilities such as the Iberostar Bellavista, Grand Memories Varadero, Meliá Península Varadero and Royalton Hicacos hotels, among others.

This opening to international tourism will be carried out while complying with the pertinent hygiene measures in order to avoid the transmission of COVID-19, with special protocols such as paying for services with the use of your credit cards to avoid the manipulation of cash.
The tourist destination’s hotels will also have a medical team that will accompany clients during their stay, and screenings will be carried out regularly.
Regarding the Juan Gualberto Gómez International Airport, the statement specifies that it is ready to resume all its operations, with the special protocols established for the control of the pandemic, in order to guarantee the adequate reception of international visitors.
In June, Varadero reopened its doors to national clients to boost the local economy, affected by the current epidemiological situation that the planet and Cuba in particular are experiencing.
