This week will start with the expo Sin Máscaras: Arte Afrocubano Contemporáneo in Fine Arts Museum.  Also we will have art from two islands in Key West, and the new exhibit in Taller Gorría Gallery. Of course we will propose a lot of concert in Music and the same for Dance, Theater and Cinema.

If that is not enough you can find what is going on in Arte en La Rampa and FAC, by the way, they will have a special program this weekend. So keep in touch and don’t miss anything!

Art without masks

National Fine Arts Museum and Watch Will Foundation will present in Havana the exhibition Sin Máscaras: Arte Afrocubano Contemporáneo. It will start today July 28th at 5 pm to October 2nd. We are talking of 149 pieces by 40 Cuban artists. All of them belong to Von Christierson Collection and they are distributed in three different Museum rooms. The curator was Orlando Hernández.


In this first week there will be also collateral lectures by very well known academics in African and Afro-American Art fields from Yale, Oxford and Columbia Universities. The artist will give conferences too as well as some documentaries will be display. Here it is the full program.

Trump in caricatures

Ares Studio invites today to collective expo Agente Naranja at 5 pm. Location: San Ignacio St. 4, between Chacón St. and Tejadillo St., Old Havana.

Art from two islands

Made in Havana/Made in Key West is an exhibit where artists from both cities participate. The opening will be on August 3rd and will close on September 23rd.

This show is part of a cultural interchange One Race/The Human Race, a dialog started three years ago between National Fine Arts Museum in Havana and Key West, Florida. Ever since this American city host many Cuban artists work.

Cuban part is represented by Manuel Mendive, Pedro Pablo Oliva, Roberto Fabelo, Zaida del Río, Osneldo Garcias, Alicia Leal, The Merger, Rubén Alpizar, Mabel Poblet, Reyneiro Tamayo, Sandra Ramos, Abel Barroso, Arles del Rio, y Stainless. Key West´s artists are: Mario Sánchez, Jeff Macnelly, Peter Vey, Carole Feueman, Andy Thurber, Papito Suárez, Zuzie de Poo, W.B.Thompson, Harriet Frank, Linda Rieke, Wayne Garcia, Mike Rooney, Priscilla Coote, Mike Marrero, y Carl Hower.

Summer in Roma

Today July 28th at 8 pm will be the opening of Expo de Verano, a show curated by Alejandro Piño Bello. The artists will be there! Aguacate St. 162, between O’Reilly St. and San Juan de Dios St.

Aldo López-Gavilán on USA tour

Today he will perform in Thaoe Classic Festival in Nevada with the Classical Thaoe Orchestra lead by experimented Maestro Joel Reyzen. They will play popular Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin. Tomorrow in the same stage will be the world premiere of “Emporium”, a concert for piano and orchestra compose by Gavilán this year for his tween daughters.

The artist began this tour past July 15th with a successful perform with famous violinist Joshua Bell in Napa Valley Festival, where he won the Khaledi Award. After this weekend he will continue his performance together with Grammy Award Winner Harlem Quartet in cities like Edgartown and Martha’s Vineyard (Massachussets), Houston (Texas) or Muskegon and Big Rapids (Michigan).

Cuban music in Miami

William Vivanco will play today at 9 pm in It Lounge Midtown, Miami.

La Charanga will be tomorrow at 9 pm in Flamingo Theater Bar.

Sunset in Almendares

The Open Theater in Almendares Park will host today a Yaíma Sáez concert at 7 pm.

Same place, same hour but tomorrow will be there singer-songwriter Frank Delgado.

Qva Libre Wednesday

New matinée season with Qva Libre in Café Cantante of National Theater. Every Wednesday at 5 pm just put on your hat to dance with the “Stellar Psichodelic”.

Nube Roja has the Fridays

Every last Friday of the month Nube Roja will be in EFE Bar at 10 pm.

Telmary in Pazillo

Tomorrow Telmary will perform in Pazillo Bar-Reataurant at 9 pm. So you know!

Cuba Blues

Zule Guerra and Blues de Habana will perform on Sunday at 10:30 pm in La Zorra y el Cuervo Jazz Club. On Wednesday, August 2nd they will play in EFE Bar at 11 pm. Follow the blues!

Invisible dancing wires

Danza Contemporánea deCuba and Goethe Institute have invited Spanish dance company LaMacana to perform this weekend in Great Theater of Havana Alicia Alonso.

They will present for the first time in Cuba, Invisible Wires by Julio César Iglesias after several presentations in Germany and Spain. This is an extremely physical choreograph with five dancers and music my Niko Hafkenscheid.

The lesson

Adolfo Llauradó Room Theater is still presenting the play La lección. Ara Theater is in charge of this comedy-drama by Eugéne Lonesco.

Arte en La Rampa presents

The book “Yo soy el Caballero de París” written by Dr. Luis Calzadilla will be presented on Saturday at 2 pm. Dr. Calzadilla was the last specialist to treat the popular Caballero de París while he was in Mental Health Hospital Mazorra.

Friday 28th at 3 pm in Salón de Mayo will be the presentation of CD Bendita Indisciplina by Enfusión Group. In La Pérgola at 5 pm, Silvio Alejandro will invite Eduardo Sosa, Diego Gutiérrez and Pedrito Beritán. By 6 pm Telmary and Habana Sana will play in the central stage.

Saturday 29th at 11 pm will start a show for kids with clowns and magicians. At 2 pm in La Pérgola, Marianela Dufflar will present the book “Yo soy el Caballero de París”. By 6 pm Adrian Berazaín will play in the central stage.

On Sunday 30th the Fair will be close due to historical date.

Different schedule in FAC

Today in FAC open Hip Hop classes again in Nave 3 and like last week Marte Project at 9:30 pm with Ixchel play.

New stuff at 11 pm in Nave 4 with Kevin Krag and Chase the Jaguar from Argentina. This is a brothers band with Sebastian and David Fox, sons of recognized guitar flamenco player Alex Fox.

By midnight Open Jam in Nave 1 with clarinet and saxophone player Emir Santa Cruz y Espiral.

Saturday at 9 pm you can see fashion show by designer Victor Bikiny in Nave 3. At 10 pm Grettel Barreiro will be in concert in Nave 4 and after that remember about the special hours for this weekend.

On Sunday at 12 am in Nave 3 the play La cita will be on. Same time but in Nave 4 will perform William Roblejo’s Trio. By 1 am in Nave 1 you can enjoy Session Dj Producers with Djoy de Cuba.
