Cuba closes October with 48 new cases of coronavirus and no deaths

In addition, this Saturday there were 44 discharges and a total of 3,701 patients remained hospitalized for clinical epidemiological surveillance.

The Cuban health authorities reported 48 new cases of coronavirus and no deaths from the disease on the last day of October. In addition, this Saturday there were 44 discharges.

In this way, the number of people detected with COVID-19 in Cuba rose to 6,935, 0.82% of the total diagnostic tests performed, while the number of fatalities remained at 128; 6,289 cases have already recovered, representing 90.6% of all the sick so far registered on the island.

According to the report by the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, 3,701 patients had been hospitalized for epidemiological clinical surveillance until the end of October 31. Of these, 929 are suspects, 2,256 are under surveillance and 516 have been confirmed.

Of the latter, 512 have a stable clinical condition, while four patients, three critically ill and one seriously ill, were reported. In addition, the number of evacuated patients has remained at two since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the last 24 hours, 8,658 samples were studied in Cuba, of which 48 were positive. Of these, 47 correspond to Cubans and one to a foreigner, while 42 are autochthonous cases and six are imported.

Among all those diagnosed, 26 are female and 22 are male; 52% (25) of the positive cases were asymptomatic at the time of their diagnosis.

Of the autochthonous cases, 41 are contacts of confirmed cases, while in only one the source of infection could not be specified. Pinar del Río was once again the province with the newest registered infections, with 25, while Sancti Spíritus reported 12, Ciego de Ávila four and Havana one, as well as an imported one.

Finally, the remaining imported cases correspond to people residing in the provinces of Camagüey (3) and Guantánamo (2).
