Cuba reported 40 new contagions due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus this Thursday, after 6,625 tests in search of the new coronavirus throughout the country, according to Dr. Francisco Durán. No deaths were reported. The fatality rate stands at 2.22%.
All the patients on this day correspond to Cubans: 39 are autochthonous cases and one imported, which goes to the records of the Jatibonico municipality of Jatibonico, the place of residence of the 43-year-old man, the only person who today was infected abroad.

Of the total, 37 were contacts of confirmed cases and in two individuals the source of infection is not specified, according to the report issued by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).
14 men and 26 women. Half of all cases were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis.
By age group, the most affected this time were those between 40 and 59 years old, with 14 cases; and those under 20, with 12. There are six people between 20 and 39, and eight over 60.
The territories that reported new COVID-19 cases are these: Ciego de Ávila (23), Havana (14), Artemisa (1), Sancti Spíritus (1) and Camagüey (1).
At midnight on September 23, 8,547 people were still hospitalized.
There were 31 medical discharges this Wednesday, while seven people continued in intensive care: two in critical condition and five seriously ill, in hospitals in Havana and Camagüey.
The country has processed a total 569,371 tests, of which 5,310 have been positive for the new coronavirus.
