According to a note from the Agencia Cubana de Noticias (ACN) news agency, more than 31,000 people from Camagüey received the first dose of Abdala as part of the health intervention being carried out in risk groups, especially in the public health sector.
The immunization process is being carried out in 44 sites located in the province’s 13 municipalities, with the inclusion of workers from the sector and students from the Carlos J. Finlay University of Medical Sciences, said Dr. Sonia María González, head of Primary Health Care in the Provincial Department of Camagüey.
Abdala will reach more than 37,000 people from Camaguey in when the first phase of its implementation concludes.
More than 200 tourism workers are benefited as of now with the Abdala vaccine candidate considering that they are working in centers equipped for the isolation of health professionals, international travelers or contacts of cases confirmed with the new coronavirus.
That is why the workers of the Plaza, Puerto Principe and Isla de Cuba hotels, belonging to the Islazul tourism group, the Santa María, of the Cubanacán group, and the bases of the Provincial People’s Camping Enterprise, among other centers, have received the vaccine, according to the note.
