The SARS-CoV-2 virus caused two new deaths in Cuba during the last 24 hours: an 80-year-old man from Ciego de Ávila, and another, 49, resident in Antilla, Holguín municipality.

The evolution of both was, given their ages and complications, logically different. Both are explained in today’s medical report by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP); but the Antilla case worries.

The deceased had a “torpid” evolution, two different hospitalizations and municipalities (Antilla and Banes) that began on September 14 and his PCR was positive, as noted, at the necropsy.

With these victims, the death toll of the new coronavirus pandemic on the island is 113 and the fatality rate is 2.24%, as confirmed by Dr. Francisco Durán during his morning appearance.

The reported new contagions, meanwhile, were 51; 48 of them correspond to Cubans and three to foreigners residing in the country.

45 were contacts of confirmed cases and in six individuals the source of infection was not specified.
