Two years of pandemic in the Cuban calendar

March 12, 2022

By sex, there were 544 females and 566 males, while 538 were asymptomatic at the time of their diagnosis.

The age group most affected in the last day was that of 40-59 years, with 376 infections, while there were 365 between 20 and 39. Those under 20, for their part, were this time 167, of them 154 in pediatric ages and eight under one-year-old; while those over 60 reached the alarming figure of 212.

By provinces, Havana (663) continues to be the epicenter of the pandemic on the island. Meanwhile, Matanzas (131), Santiago de Cuba (66) and Sancti Spíritus (44) also remain in the red.

After the most recent registered cases, the rate of positive cases in Cuba in the last 15 days rose to 138.7 per 100,000 inhabitants, while 42 transmission events remain open.

Therefore, the health authorities reiterated that the spread of SARS-CoV-2 is active throughout the country, with an upward trend that they attribute to the presence on the island of new, more contagious strains and many people’s lack of risk perception.
