FIHAV 2013, new window of changes in Cuba

Unlike previous editions, the XXXI International Trade Fair of Havana, transcended that vision of formal space for the meeting between Cuban and foreign businessmen interested in trade, to become new window through which see the economic changes and taking place in the island

And this version brought and left in the mouth of many the taste of an appetizing dish: the Special Development Zone Mariel (ZEDM) , that that can stand as an important foundation of the transformations within the Island towards its much desired prosperity.

In a climate of respect and security, foreign and domestic investors will enjoy tax and customs incentives respected in the monumental project, which occupies an area of 465.4 square kilometers west of the Cuban capital.

The statements was made in FIHAV by Rodrigo Malmierca , Minister of Trade and Investment and was later ratified by Ricardo Cabrisas , vice president of the Council of Ministers , at the close of the great event , who also only had words of praise for this Fair which had the largest turnout in the Caribbean country .

Services and products in the fields of health, construction, communications, agriculture, food and beverages, capital goods and consumer products, cosmetics, textiles, leather and fur, tourism, machinery and computer technologies distinguished the presentations of over 100 Cuban entities.

In this regard, numerous exhibitors from the host country were recognized by the functionality, technology compatibility, and respect to environmental requirements, as well as the good work and creativity put into function by those products. Among them stood Cuban Cometal, Los Portales, Bravo, Brascuba, Havana Club International, Cubaron, Cuban International Tobacco and Etecsa.

As another excellent opportunity for the transfer of technologies and good practices stood out the call made at the fair for the First International Convention of Cuban Industry.

The event, to be held in June next year, will cover 12 conference and four rounds of business related to fashion, professional and technical services, the international exhibition of furniture and production chains, all of which is advertised as another space for new technology partnerships and knowledge of new export products.

Also the results of Cuban biotechnology caught the attention of the public and entrepreneurs attending the Fair, with the presentation of Vaxira therapeutic vaccine, developed by the Center of Molecular Immunology for advanced lung cancer.

Similarly, the Biocubafarma business group, who conquered the area’s main exhibition area, made a detailed presentation on treatments for cancer, diabetes and diagnosis of various diseases, proposals that combine clinical and surgical programs with other more specialized.

For the foreign part, stood out by the presentation, design and integrity of its exhibition , the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela , as well as for their massive participation Spain , Brazil , China , Mexico , Italy , Vietnam and Russia.

Also important was the VI Cuba -Russia Business Committee, in conjunction with numerous meetings with major trading partners such as Brazil, Venezuela where they projected work strategies for 2014.

Ricardo Cabrisas meant that 24 countries from Latin America and the Caribbean participated this year, while stressing that trade with the region accounts for more than 45 percent of all business, tacit expression the priority given by Cuba to these relationships.

With a formal invitation to the 32nd FIHAV, the Cuban official encouraged participants to maintain the initiated promotional and business contacts, with a view to further broaden and deepen the existing bilateral economic ties.
