Another deceased and more than 50 COVID-19 cases for the second consecutive day in Cuba

Sancti Spíritus and Havana registered 51 of the 52 cases of COVID-19 this October 17, the deceased patient was a resident of the province of Sancti Spíritus.

For the second consecutive day after the new normal, Cuba reports one deceased and more than 50 positive cases from COVID-19 this October 17.

Resident in the municipality of Sancti Spíritus, the patient who died was 53 years old and had a personal pathological history of hypertension and obesity, the Ministry of Public Health refers in its usual report.

Two provinces registered almost all positive cases of COVID-19 this October 17, when a total of 52 new confirmed cases were registered from 7,085 tests carried out.

Sancti Spíritus with 29 and Havana with 22 contagions from the new coronavirus are the most affected provinces today, along with Pinar del Río, which reports only one patient in the municipality of Guane.

All cases are autochthonous, and in only 2 no defined source of infection is specified at the moment and 50 were contacts of confirmed cases, while 37 people were asymptomatic at the time of testing positive.

Is booster vaccination at a standstill in Cuba?

Of the total cases, 14 (26.9%) were women and 38 (73%) men.

With the death of the day, there are already 125 deaths from COVID-19 in Cuba and 6,170 confirmed cases, of which 5,753 have recovered satisfactorily.

With the two evacuees and the 51 medical discharges of the day, 290 confirmed cases remain hospitalized, 282 have a stable clinical evolution, while three patients are in critical condition and five in serious condition.

2,247 patients are hospitalized for clinical epidemiological surveillance, of them 672 suspects and 1,285 under surveillance.
