The number of 806 new coronavirus infections is slightly lower than that of the previous days, but it is still high compared to the months in which the disease was controlled.
Havana continues as the epicenter of the pandemic with 387 positive cases, followed by the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo with 116 and 92 patients, respectively.
Durán explained that 37 patients remain in critical condition, 33 in serious condition and there are 4,800 active cases, of which 4,730 have a stable clinical evolution. He insisted on the need to find the largest number of infected people and to trace the contacts of confirmed cases.
For several weeks Cuba has experienced a new outbreak of the disease, which has also increased the number of deaths. Until this Saturday, 266 deaths from coronavirus were reported since the first cases of the pandemic were confirmed during the month of March.
To try to contain the high number of infections, the authorities have applied in provinces such as Havana a series of restriction measures such as the sale of products by municipalities of residence, the curfew from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and the suspension of the school year.
